Bike Rack

This series of high-contrast black and white images is a meditation on light as it strikes the bike rack located behind the Integrated Science Complex on the UMass Boston Harbor Campus. Simple changes in the position of the sun and the location of the camera (high angle, on the ground looking up, straight on, etc.) result in multiple geometric shapes both in the pipe and the light and shadow that wrap around it.

These images are on display in Fountain Street Gallery’s Annex from August 19 through September 25, 2022. The ANNEX is a section of the Gallery where new work by emerging and mid-career regional artists is spotlighted.
