2022 Newton Library and City Hall Exhibit Images
Inspired by Monet’s haystack and Rouen Cathedral paintings, I photograph the same composition over and over again in different seasons, different weather, and at different times of day. Bullough’s Pond becomes the backdrop against which I look at the ever-changing clouds and the way they are reflected, or not, in the pond waters.

Bullough’s Pond Dreamscapes
Dreamscapes are creative riffs on “real” photographs of Bullough’s Pond. The composition is “real.” The camera recorded it; the interpretation is fantastical.

Artist’s Statement - Photos of a Neighborhood Pond
In November of 2018 I headed to Bullough’s Pond, located a mile from my home in Newton, Massachusetts, to photograph a reflection for a photography course I was taking at the time. Little did I know that I would still be photographing this three-acre suburban pond close to five years later!
Sitting at the edge of the pond waiting for the clouds has become an almost daily meditation as I struggle to stay joyful during the COVID-19 pandemic. While I am focused on the clouds, their reflections, the ducks swimming by, the Canada geese flying overhead, and the occasional turtle or muskrat, my own worries melt away, and I am left feeling much better.
